PLNs or Personal Learning Networks are a new name for the old idea of 'networking'. Meeting people, learning names and reaching out to those people who are already in the field and working for the firm or in my case school system is one example. This is a more business approach and that is where the main difference seems to be at. The PLN extends to resources and information pools that people can use to better their abilities to perform objectives.
I have had for years a few students who are also teachers at Murphy High School (Mascot is the Panther) here in Mobile AL. I can reach out to them for advice on my degree goals or even who they think the best person in the head office is to speak with on matters of importance. I have a scheduled lesson tomorrow at noon to teach a class further dance techniques and styles.
My boss at the studio I currently work at can be another person in my PLN. She has roughly 40 years of dance experience and I can ask her a myriad of questions on dance topics. YouTube is even a resource I can delve into to find new steps or patterns if I so wish. Previous coworkers, bosses, managers, trainers... these can all fit into my PLN.

I think it's great you have already formed your own PLN! It is always helpful to know people in your work of study!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of the videos Dr. Strange provided you with for this assignment? I would recommend referencing at least one. You must also include a link in every post as well the Title and Alt tags for your picture.
Your content is good, just brief. I think you could have written more and made this post better. Basically, I think you have more potential than what this post has shown.

I am like you in that there are multiple people that I know who are teachers. I am constantly asking them questions about the Mobile County School System. I did not think of them as my PLN until I read about it. It makes it seem easier when you can talk to people who can help lead you through things.
